Olive School of Journalism believes that it is extremely necessary to provide opportunity for the teeming youth in northern Ghana to be trained as professionals in the Media

To train quality and professional media and Communication Practitioners to impact positively on society by practicing responsible and development Journalism/communication
Courses taught are primarily focused on:
the role of the print and electronic media in development and Investigative Journalism the training of the learner to practice development journalism the role of Journalists not only as reporters of news but also makers of the news and take responsibility of the actions and inactions the role of media Institutions and Commissions set up to guide and protect the Public, the vulnerable and Journalists in the quest for a greater access to information in the midst of media freedom the capacity of the print media and electronic media to play the role of an effective watchdog of government
Our Objectives:
The programmes in Journalism & Public Relations (PR) are designed to:
equip students with the foundational knowledge of both the theory and practice of Journalism & Public Relations (PR)/Communication enable students understand and appreciate the dynamics of Journalism & Public Relations(PR) offer students adequate knowledge of how media communication is organised and operated in their communities and within national and international contexts enable students acquire a wide range of knowledge about media and practice Development and Investigative Journalism ensure that students understand the roles, freedoms and responsibilities of media institutions and Journalists.
Why Journalism & Public Relations (PR)
A strong communication skill is essential in the promotion of peace, responsible/development journalism and cultured media work. Strong communication skills is prerequisite for employment in most organizations in Ghana.
The two year programme will therefore, enhance opportunities for employment of the youth into various sectors of the economy. As a result, the School’s mission of bringing about media sanity through effective & efficient communication by impacting positively through the practice of responsible/development Journalism/Communication would have been achieved.
